Hisar, Haryana | Chandigarh:In a major security breach, popular travel vlogger and YouTuber Jyoti Malhotra, known online as Desi-Indo-Joe, has been arrested in Hisar for allegedly acting as an agent for Pakistani intelligence operatives. Authorities confirmed on Saturday that she was taken into custody by the Civil Lines Police under charges of espionage and violating the Official Secrets Act.
According to officials, Malhotra was in regular contact with Pakistani intelligence personnel and had shared sensitive information with them using platforms such as WhatsApp, Telegram, and Snapchat. Investigators revealed that her communications were carefully concealed—she saved the contacts of operatives under misleading names to avoid detection.
Frequent Visits to Pakistan Under Scanner
Jyoti had travelled to Pakistan multiple times since 2023, allegedly as part of a cross-border delegation. During one of her initial visits, she reportedly met a man named Ahsan-ur-Rahim alias Danish, who maintained communication with her after her return to India. On a subsequent trip—reportedly arranged at Ahsan’s suggestion—Jyoti met Ali Ahsan, who then introduced her to individuals linked to Pakistan’s
intelligence and security network.
Police say that it was after these interactions that Malhotra began transmitting sensitive information to her handlers in Pakistan. She was allegedly instructed to use her social media influence to project a positive image of Pakistan while quietly relaying intelligence-related data.
Violation of Official Secrets Act and National Security Threat
The FIR outlines that Jyoti’s activities constitute a serious breach of the Official Secrets Act, with authorities emphasizing the national security risk posed by her sustained engagement with foreign operatives. During interrogation, she admitted to sharing restricted information and acknowledged attempts to mask her digital footprint.
Law enforcement agencies are now examining her devices and online activity to assess the full extent of the breach. The Ministry of Home Affairs has been briefed, and further investigation is underway to identify additional contacts and possible accomplices.
